A native San Antonian, Valdez demonstrated talent for drawing at an early age. Vincent received a full scholarship to The Rhode Island School of Design where he earned his BFA in 2000. In 2004 at age 26, Stations, Valdez’s suite of monumental charcoal drawings, was shown at the McNay Art Museum, where he was the youngest artist to ever receive a solo exhibition His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; The Snite Museum of Art; The Frye Museum, The Mexican Museum of National Art ,Chicago; The Parsons Museum in Paris; The El Paso Museum of Art; OSDE Buenos Aires; The Laguna Art Museum; among others. He received a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting in 2005 and The Vermont Studio Center in 2011. He currently lives and works in Firestation #15, his restored 1928 fire station in San Antonio, TX.
